MW4 Season 1 revealed: Backstab, Canyon, Shoot House, two new guns and DMZ's X01

Activision has officially revealed Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. It goes live on 6 November at midnight ET (9pm PT on 5 November, 5am UK time) on all platforms, alongside the full move of MW4 into Warzone. No end date has been given yet.

Multiplayer maps

• At launch: two new 6v6 maps, Backstab and Canyon, plus a reimagined Shoot House.
• Already live: the Shipment remaster, added on 27 October.
• Mid-season: Ministry and Overflow, with more maps still classified.
• Kill Block: a new featured layout, Crash, uses static slabs and will also appear in other playlists such as Search & Destroy.

Modes

• Pre-season: Possession (29 October) and Infected (30 October), as already announced.
• At launch: Grind and Drop Zone return, and Gauntlet arrives as a 1v1 variant through the Wager Match event.
• Mid-season: Counter Attack and a Team Deathmatch variant that hasn’t been named yet.

New weapons

• Cronen Osprey (assault rifle): free at Battle Pass tier 16. Its Apex attachment is the Cronen Helix Mk. II.
• CSG-35 (SMG): free at Battle Pass tier 36. Its Apex attachment, the CSG Crossfire, turns it akimbo.
• JAK 12 (full-auto shotgun): an in-season event reward, with the JAK Barrage Apex.
• ZLR Talonhawk (melee): an in-season event reward.

New attachments during the season include Apex attachments for the Hyeon Auto and Kastov 545 (Wager Match rewards), an M16 Burst conversion for the M4, a TT Iron Guard Kit for the .50 GS and a ChainSAW Grip for the FiNN LMG.

DMZ: X01

DMZ gets a new endgame location, X01, a former weapons facility on the Hajin border that Activision describes as a maze of tunnels and vertical routes, with its own exclusive equipment. Ghost becomes the Watcher and leads new Orders.

• Boss Board: two new Lieutenants (Tae-Hyun “Knuckle” and Chol-Min “The Wrench”) and two Commanders: The Captain, a Juggernaut with an elite guard, and Wheelson, an autonomous patrol unit.
• FOB upgrades: a Battle Pass and Store station, a vendor that sells gear for DMZ Cash (BlackCell owners only) and a 3D Printer (details classified).
• Events: Threat Briefings for the Battle Tank in Hajin and The Captain in X01, plus a Resupply Run, with more briefings later in the season.

Warzone

Season 1 brings Modern Warfare 4 fully into Warzone, with new maps Hajin and Zodiac and the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Full Warzone details are due in a separate post on 2 November.

Events

• Wager Match (multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone): earn Trophies to spend on attachments, Operator skins, Blueprints and camos.
• Weapon Camo events and a Joint Fire event that boosts XP for squads.
• More events are promised for mid-season.
