Activision has published the full Warzone Season 1 briefing. Warzone moves onto MW4 when the season starts at midnight ET on 6 November (9 PM PT on 5 November). It brings two new maps, MW4’s weapons and progression, and some big platform changes.
Platforms
- Warzone launches on Nintendo Switch 2 with Season 1.
- It will no longer be playable on PS4 or Xbox One. Progress carries over to a supported platform if you sign in with the same Activision account.
Maps
- Hajin is the new battle royale map. It covers both sides of the Korean border with 13 major POIs, weather that affects visibility, and a Gulag with two 1v1 arena layouts.
- Zodiac is the new Resurgence map. It’s a compact drone facility with ten POIs, tunnels, moving trains and interactive hazards.
- Verdansk and Rebirth Island both return during the season, not at launch.
Modes at launch
- Battle Royale and BR Casual on Hajin and Verdansk; Resurgence and Resurgence Casual on Zodiac and Rebirth Island.
- Limited-time modes: Rally Point (Zodiac, 20 players), Massive Resurgence (Hajin, 120 players) and Loaded Resurgence (44 players).
- Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers are planned for mid-season.
Movement and gameplay
- Tactical Sprint no longer needs a perk, but it lasts slightly less long.
- You can now drag a teammate while reviving them.
- New gear includes the Zipline Launcher and Grabber Drone, plus movable fuel barrels and pushable cover.
- New systems: Grind for Royalty challenges, Weapon Augments bought from Fly Buy stations, Ground Ops, and Resurgence-only Weapon Trade Stations and Drop Kits.
- Loadouts use 15 perks across three slots, plus three Elite Perks (Athleticism, Phantom and Fieldcraft) found in matches.
Weapons and progression
- Player Level resets and is shared across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, with optional Prestige.
- All 33 MW4 launch weapons are in, plus the Season 1 additions, with Weapon Prestige, Mastery Camos and Apex Attachments.
- Operators and cosmetics from MW2, MW3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 carry forward, with a new Warzone-only Operator Skin Toggle.
- Older weapons are still usable, but each has a fixed five-attachment base version and can’t be edited in Gunsmith. Legacy Blueprints start locked and unlock with Player XP in the Armory.
- The Mastery Camos named in the briefing are Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros.
Events
A Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event at launch awards the Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground camos, with more events promised during the season. Ranked play and the Season 1 end date weren’t covered.
